Greetings fans of The Ark Haus! I know its been a while since we posted updates. I apologize for the delay.
We have completed our container cabins earlier this Winter (pics will be posted soon)!
Trevor & I closed on our land purchase and can't wait to transport our project North! They will be the main hub with the plumbing and electrical hookups and the extension off the containers will be multiple dome structures built using a super adobe method, and a floating foundation will be the base for the entire home. We're lucky that the building site is solid granite. Our final outcome will be a 1000-2000 sq ft. home.

There are beautiful examples of super adobe dome houses online. We love many aspects of our custom home. Some factors are:
SAFETY - these homes are flood, fire, hurricane & earthquake proof (and in many cases) even bullet proof!
EARTH-FRIENDLY - utilizing re-purposed as well as organic abundant materials saves trees, reduces waste and protects wildlife.
LONGEVITY - when properly built these homes are maintenance-free for DECADES and easily modified and customized!
SUPPORTS LOCAL COMMUNITY - our home will be built using soil purchased locally and we plan to offer workshops for the community where they can learn how to build like this as well.
HEALTHY - utilizing the adobe technique requires labor, promoting great exercise! Also with the absence of toxic adhesives, fiber-glass insulation and other off-gassing materials normally found in the home you can breath easier knowing your air is safe!
